Mistress Ambra was Laureled November 2018 in Trimaris for Poetry and Written Works. Having grown up in the SCA, mostly around the fire or near the fighting field, her works, while varied, are primarily inspired by marshal combat, honor, duty, and the love of things greater than one's self.

Category & Div - Written Works - Poetry - 2015 - Journeyman
While there is some good information, and of course it is always fun to share the poetry, we hope this serves as a good comparison of formulaic growth from this version to more recent entries. Sometimes it helps to see how things evolve and while "Journeyman" is still a category today, it has been changed in Kingdom since this entry. Still, we hop you find this useful. Enjoy!

How to Enter Art-Sci in Trimaris
This is one formulaic breakdown that has served me (Ambra) well in Poetry entries. The same/similar formatting has been applied to Perfume and Metal Working Categories, resulting in a range of scoring from 83% to Non Pareil. In the end, the product matters, and there are MANY ways to skin this cat. Hope this helps in defining your own layout! For more, check out the "Ask as Trimarian Laurel" group on FB.
Elizabethan Sonnets - Write Your Own!

Derives from a 16th century adaptation, deviating, as many artists did over the years, into the style (ababcdcdefefgg), though, of note, an artist named Edmund Spenser adapted this further (ababbabccdcdee)...

English & Scottish Ballads

English & Scottish Ballads
Category & Div - Written Works - Poetry - 2013 - Journeyman
Ambra moved to Trimaris in 2010. This was her first entry in the Written Works Songwriting/Poetry Category. While opportunities abound in the structure of this paper, we thought it helpful to show it in it's original format as a) a declaration of humility (few start off scholastic rockstars - you got this!) and b) to show 'how' you communicate in your paper is just as important as 'what' you communicate. How to Create a Teaching Display for the Art-Sci Expo

Songwriting - One Bard's Perspective
Class
So, you’re interested in songwriting in the SCA! Yay! Learn one bard’s formula to go from a cool catch-line or chorus to a completed song. I’ll give you some steps to help lead you in the direction of that elusive Scadian ‘hit’ every composer strives for. I’ve written many songs; many were duds, and some are sung the Knowne World over. The importance is to learn from my mistakes and take away some tricks to make your life easier, your compositional experience more enjoyable, and your endeavors ideally less frustrating.
How to Fake the Bodharan

Included are resources to set you down the good and proper path. That said, THIS class won't help you with that. What it will do is within short order get you active around a bardic.
Consider it the gateway class to your new addiction. It's easy. Want to learn how?

SCA Legal Elbow Cop

This is not a markedly medieval design, but this is a very simple, clean, sharp looking elbow cop instructional that keeps you safe and legal on the SCA combat field.

Leatherworking - Making a Laurel Headpiece
Class
I have been working in leather for some time. Much of my SCA armor consists of it. I have completed commissions of baronial and peerage coronets (kingdom specific), youth armor, award paraphernalia, and more. This was one of my more creative, simple, and fun projects, though time tasking. Check it out and tag me with any process questions you may run in to!
